Foreign students to Chien Kuo Technology University gathered at Student Activity Center on November 18th, 2018. Not only did they show how to make popular cuisines under their own steam of their countries, from which the smell of local delicacies is overflowing, but perform traditional dances. The enchanting passion of dancing made the event like a carnival.

In coordination with government's New Southbound Policy, in 2018 academic year CTU has drawn more than 700 international students from Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, as well as Northeast Asian countries- Japan, Korea, Mongolia, Middle East country- Iran, and Mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao. In order to relieve foreign students’ homesickness to a certain extent, CTU held an international exchanging event entitled “Exotic Cultures and Gourmets Festival” at 3 p.m. on November 8th. Among them, seafood pancakes made by Korean students were so authentic that lots of people were attracted, lining up in a long queue. Besides, spring rolls with fish sauce cooked by Vietnamese students were also mouth-watering. Mongolian, Indonesian, Malaysian and Myanmar students were all doing their best to make their traditional food. However, for those who want to munch on these exotic cuisines, cultural oral tests must be passed. Since some foreign students are still facing challenges with Chinese, local students may be puzzled with the questions posed by them. Craving for a bite of delicious food seemed harder than climbing up sky, yet the interaction between students looked very interesting.

In addition, students from Japan, Mongolia, Vietnam, Indonesia and Hong Kong also presented their countries’ famous dancing one after another. CTU President Dr. Chiang, Ching-Shan said that the school has been actively recruiting overseas students in coordinate with governmental policy. There are around seven hundreds of students who have completed registration this year. Some problems they would face when first arriving in Taiwan are language, culture and living adaption, etc. In order to help these international foreign students mingle together, CTU has been offering many counselling measures for them, in which exotic culture festival is one of the most important cultural exchanging events. Some of the foreign students have arrived in Taiwan only for less than two months, but they are very passionate, enjoy showing their talents, and be proud of their countries. Their exciting performances of dancing and sharing brought down the house. It is positively believed that these students coming from foreign countries will have a great time here while studying in CTU.
